Venezuelan Presidential Website Disrupted by Hacker for Offering Asylum to Snowden
Venezuelan Presidential Website Disrupted by Hacker for Offering Asylum to Snowden: A few hours ago, Venezuela and Nicaragua offered asylum to Edward Snowden, the NSA whistleblower. As soon as the news broke, patriot hacker The Jester (th3j35t3r) launched an attack against the website of the Venezuelan Presidency (presidencia.gob.ve).
The attack started around five hours ago, and the site has been down ever since.
“Official presidential site of Nicolás Maduro, President of Venezuela. For offering #Snowden asylum,” the hacker wrote on Twitter.
A few days ago, The Jester threatened to go after any country that offered to help Snowden.
First, he targeted a couple of major websites from Ecuador. On Friday, he disrupted the website of WikiLeaks donation processor DataCell after one of the company’s founders offered to fly Snowden to Iceland in case he was granted asylum.
